Terms of Service

Effective date: April 21, 2026

Article 1. Purpose

These Terms of Service govern the conditions and procedures for using Pagera (hereinafter "Service"), an internet book service provided by PubStation Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Company"), and set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and its members.

Article 2. Definitions

  • Member: A person who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service provided by the Company.
  • Non-member: A person who uses certain features of the Service without registering.
  • Content: All materials posted or provided through the Service, including book text, translations, cover images, and metadata.
  • Public Domain Content: Works collected from Project Gutenberg, Aozora Bunko, and similar sources whose copyright has expired.
  • Pagera AI Translation: Translation outputs generated by the Company's proprietary AI systems.

Article 3. Effectiveness and Amendment of Terms

  1. These Terms take effect when posted on the Service.
  2. The Company may amend these Terms within the limits permitted by applicable law, with notice posted at least 7 days before the effective date (30 days in advance for changes that are disadvantageous to members).
  3. If a member does not agree to the amended Terms, they may terminate the service agreement. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the changes.

Article 4. Registration and Withdrawal

  1. Members may register using an email/password combination or an external authentication provider such as Google.
  2. The Company may refuse or subsequently terminate registrations in the following cases:
    • Use of another person's identity or information
    • Submission of false information
    • Application with an email address already registered
    • Any other case where the Company judges the applicant to be unsuitable
  3. Members may withdraw at any time via My Page → Settings → Account, and membership is forfeited immediately upon withdrawal.

Article 5. Member Obligations

Members must not engage in any of the following during their use of the Service:

  • Unauthorized use of another person's ID, password, or personal information
  • Reproducing, transmitting, publishing, distributing, or broadcasting content obtained through the Service without prior Company approval (public domain originals excluded)
  • Interfering with service operations or compromising system security
  • Accessing the Service abnormally through automated means (crawlers, bots, etc.)
  • Posting content that harms other members or contains profanity, discrimination, or violence
  • Any act that violates applicable law or public morality

Article 6. Service Provision, Changes, and Suspension

  1. The Company aims to provide the Service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  2. The Company may temporarily suspend the Service for unavoidable reasons such as system maintenance, network outages, or natural disasters, and will notify users before or after such suspension.
  3. The Company may change all or part of the Service as operationally or technically required.
  4. Non-members may read one book per day free of charge; members may use the Service without this limit.

Article 7. Content Rights and Licenses

  1. Public Domain Originals: Works collected from Project Gutenberg, Aozora Bunko, and similar sources are in the public domain and free for anyone to use. However, the Company retains rights over its value-added processing (metadata, chapter structure, cover images, etc.).
  2. Pagera AI Translation: Korean translations produced by the Company's AI systems are the Company's intellectual property. Personal non-commercial reading is permitted; unauthorized reproduction, redistribution, or commercial use is prohibited. When quoting, you must credit the source as "Pagera Translation, https://pagera.app".
  3. Cover art and illustrations: Visual materials produced by the Company using AI or its own design are the property of the Company.

Article 8. Translation Requests

Members may request translations of new works. The Company decides whether and when to proceed based on the number of requests, the value of the content, and operational priorities. Requesters are notified by email when a translation is completed. A translation request is treated as a recommendation, not a binding obligation on the Company.

Article 9. Paid Services / Advertising

The Company may introduce paid premium services in the future and will announce separate terms and payment policies at that time. The Company may also display advertising to cover operating costs; responsibility for advertising content rests with the respective advertisers.

Article 10. Limitation of Liability

  1. The Company is not liable for service interruptions caused by force majeure events such as natural disasters, war, or network failure.
  2. The Company is not liable for service disruptions caused by the member's own actions.
  3. The Company is not liable for damages arising from use of free services, except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
  4. While the Company makes every effort to ensure accuracy, it is not liable for errors or omissions in source public domain materials.
  5. Pagera AI translations may contain mistranslations or omissions inherent to machine learning models; the Company is exempt from liability for direct or indirect damages resulting from such errors.

Article 11. Termination / Account Suspension

If a member violates these Terms or applicable law, the Company may restrict access or permanently suspend the member's account after prior notice. Data held by the suspended member may be permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period.

Article 12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea. In the event of a dispute, both parties will endeavor to resolve it through good-faith negotiation. If no resolution is reached, the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act of Korea shall have first-instance jurisdiction.
