Pagera Editor's Note

This is the text of the Constitution of the United States as signed at the Philadelphia Convention on 17 September 1787. After the Preamble, seven articles establish the Congress and its powers, the presidency, and the federal judiciary, then define relations among the states, the process of amendment, the supremacy of the Constitution and federal law, and ratification by the conventions of nine states. The signatures of the delegates, led by George Washington, close the document. As the editors' note explains, this edition does not include the amendments, such as the Bill of Rights, and it keeps some original spellings and capitalization.
