Pagera Editor's Note

The Dhammapada is a collection of 423 verses attributed to the Buddha and preserved in the Pali canon of Theravada Buddhism. This is the English translation by F. Max Müller, arranged in twenty-six chapters with titles such as The Twin-Verses, Thought, Flowers, The Fool, The Wise Man, Anger, The Way and Thirst. In short, memorable sayings it teaches that our lives are shaped by our thoughts, that hatred ceases only through love, and that freedom from suffering comes through self-discipline, earnestness and the ending of craving.
