一 この自叙伝は、最初沼波瓊音氏の「俳味」に連載されしが、同誌の廃止後、織田枯山楼氏の「俳諧文学」にその「俳味」に載りしものと共に終結までを連載された所のもので、今般それを一冊子として岡村書店より発行せらるることとなったのである。二 誌の毎号の発行に当り、余は記憶に捜って話しつつ筆記してもらい、それをいささか修正したるものに過ぎぬから、遺漏も多く記憶違いも少なかるまい。しかし大概は余が七十六歳までの経歴の要項を叙し得たと信ずる。三 文中に現今七十四歳とあるは、談話もしくは修正の当時における年齢である。四 意義に害なき誤字は発行を急ぎし故そのままにしたるものも少なくない。五 附録の句集は松浦為王氏の選択に任かせたものである。 大正十一年三月鳴雪識るす
