An Incident 有島武郎 彼はとう／＼始末に困じて、傍に寝てゐる妻をゆり起した。妻は夢心地に先程から子供のやんちやとそれをなだめあぐんだ良人の声とを意識してゐたが、夜着に彼の手を感ずると、警鐘を聞いた消防夫の敏捷さを以て飛び起きた。然し意識がぼんやりして何をするでもなくそのまゝ暫くぢつとして坐つてゐた。 彼のいら／＼した声は然し直ぐ妻を正気に返らした。妻は急に瞼の重味が取り除けられたのを感じながら、立上つて小さな寝床の側に行つた。布団から半分身を乗り出して、子供を寝かしつけて居た彼は、妻でなければ子供が承知しないのだと云ふことを簡単に告げて、床の中にもぐり込んだ。冬の真夜中の寒さは両方の肩を氷のやうにしてゐた。 妻がなだめたならばと云ふ期待は裏切られて、彼は失望せねばならなかつた。妻がやさしい声で、真夜中だからおとなしくして寝入るやうにと云へば云ふほど、子供は鼻にかゝつた甘つたれ声で駄々をこねだした。枕を裏返せとか、裏返した枕が冷たいとか、袖で涙をふいてはいけないとか、夜着が重いけれども、取り除けてはいけないとか、妻がする事、云ふ事の一つ／＼にあまのじやくを云ひつのるので、初め
