Pagera Editor's Note
This is the first volume of the complete Yule-Cordier edition of The Travels of Marco Polo: Henry Yule's annotated English translation in its third edition of 1903, as revised by Henri Cordier. Yule's long introductory notices on Polo, his family and his book precede the text. The text then gives the Prologue on the journeys of the Polo brothers and young Marco to the Mongol court, Book One on the lands crossed from Lesser Armenia through Persia and Central Asia to Kublai Khan's summer capital at Shangdu, and the first part of Book Two, on the Khan himself, his court and his capital. Yule's extensive notes accompany almost every chapter.
