題して悦楽という、その初めの章に悦を説き、次の章に楽を説くことによる。二章の内容、皆学問を勧めるものである。二章に次いで不慍・無益の二章を記す。その内容も勧学であり。四章の文、言葉づかいに洗練さを欠くといえど趣旨は親切、反復を厭わず、人々を学に志させようとする。聖人の訓え（聖訓）に拠り所を求め、出所を注記する。これ吾が言葉に私心無くして根拠の有ることを示し、人の疑うこと無く信ずることを欲する為である。 大正四年夏日露伴学人識
