The Logic of Hegel is William Wallace's English translation of the first part of Hegel's Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences (1817, revised in 1827 and 1830), often called the Lesser Logic to distinguish it from the larger Science of Logic. This is Wallace's revised and enlarged second edition (Oxford, 1892). After chapters on the attitudes of thought to objectivity, covering the older metaphysics, empiricism, Kant's critical philosophy and the doctrine of immediate knowledge, it presents Hegel's system in three divisions: the doctrine of Being, the doctrine of Essence and the doctrine of the Notion. A bibliographical account of the Encyclopaedia and Wallace's notes on the text are included.

1892 NOTE The present volume contains a translation, which has been revised throughout and compared with the original, of the Logic as given in the first part of Hegel's _Encyclopaedia,_ preceded by a bibliographical account of the three editions and extracts from the prefaces of that work, and followed by notes and illustrations of a philological rather than a philosophical character on the text. This introductory chapter and these notes were not included in the previous edition.
