Pagera Editor's Note

Plutarch, a Greek writer of the first and second centuries AD, paired the lives of famous Greeks and Romans to compare their characters and moral choices. This second volume of the four-volume translation by Aubrey Stewart and George Long, published by George Bell and Sons, contains the lives of Pelopidas and Marcellus, Aristides and Cato the Elder, Philopoemen and Titus Flamininus, Pyrrhus and Caius Marius, Lysander and Sulla, and Cimon and Lucullus, with Plutarch's comparisons where they survive. The Roman lives of Marius, Sulla and Lucullus are translated by George Long.
